Introducing Alpha Academy! Alpha Academy is a male mentorship program for 5th thru 12th grade students living in Fort Worth and surrounding areas. This program is supported by the Fort Worth Alumni Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. (Beta Tau Lambda) and the Beta Tau Lambda Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
In keeping with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.’s national goals, Alpha Academy encompasses both the Go-To-High-School, Go-To-College (“GTHGTC”) and Project Alpha initiatives. GTHGTC, established in 1922, focuses on the importance of completing secondary and collegiate education as both have statistically been proven to be key indicators of potential future success. Established in 1980, Project Alpha curriculum focuses on male responsibility in the areas of sexuality, fatherhood, and teenage pregnancy while also highlighting the importance of good decision making and goal setting. Given the mature nature of the curriculum, this education is only offered to young males age 12 and older with parental consent.
Alpha Academy offers the tenets of GTHGTC and Project Alpha but also broadens the curriculum scope to fully prepare our young men for the challenges and opportunities of today. The seven principles of Alpha Academy are as follows:
Leadership * Brotherhood * Knowledge * Technology * Financial Stewardship * Service * Career
We believe each one of these principles is essential to the educational foundation and maturity of young men. Alpha Academy partners with professionals and organizations across Dallas Fort Worth to provide an enhanced educational experience for each of these principles. Whether our students are building their own video games or learning the foundational principles of the stock market, each session is designed to broaden young horizons. Starting this year, young men will have the opportunity to earn Onyx Stones by completing challenges designed to last 1 semester that delve deeper into each principle. Not only will earning these stones give our young men a sense of well earned accomplishment but they add points to the young men’s scholarship evaluation for the capstone of our program, the Alpha Academy Beautillion.
The Alpha Academy Beautillion, designed for our 11th and 12th grade students, focuses on college readiness, educating the young men on how to apply for scholarships and grants, financial aid, completing college applications, selecting the right schools and developing good study habits essential to college success. The program also prepares our young men for society, including the finer points of proper etiquette. The pinnacle of our program is the Beautillion, where the young men are formerly presented to society and awarded scholarships based on their scholastic achievement and program accomplishments.
In addition to the curriculum and experiences offered during our Saturday programming open to male students enrolled in 5th thru 12th grades, Alpha Academy has also fostered partnerships with North Crowley 9th Grade and Crowley Middle School to bring facets of our program directly to students in school.
“Leader, Brother, Scholar...I AM Alpha Academy!”
